Brief info
Danilo Ponare, whose ancestral name is Newütjü (Guardian Tiger of the Jungle), is a young activist and human rights defender of the Sikuani people of the large Resguardo Unificado from La Selva de Matavén. He is also a law student and is currently the Orinoco Territorial Coordinator for Barranquilla+20’s Carbon Markets, Environment and Human Rights projects. He also works as a translator of his mother tongue, Sikuani, in different scenarios such as for the international foundation Cultural Survival, La Comisión de la Verdad, the Anti-Corruption Institute of Colombia, ONIC and the Ministry of Culture of Colombia.
