The Bootcamp Powerful it is a project focused on climate action and gender equality, with the goal of closing the gap in access to knowledge in the areas of STEM to 25 young women leaders of the Atlantic. Its purpose is to strengthen the skills and the leadership of these women in the context of the climate crisis and the loss of biodiversity in the department of the Atlantic. Through collective action, we seek to amplify their voices and contributions and to increase their participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Objectives:
“The school as a stage of incubation of innovative initiatives in the face of change, and the climate justice”
This project seeks to increase the access to the strengthening of capacities in the face of change, and climate justice in young women with educational institutions in contexts of socio-economic vulnerability of the municipality of Barranquilla, the department of the Atlantic. Strengthening at the same time their leadership capabilities, communication skills, and reflection for personal growth. This project is made possible thanks to a hood on-line collection of funds, which counted with the support of private donors.
This project gave the 16 women leaders of Colombia's young people the tools necessary to advance and support their different strategies of advocacy for gender justice and climate, both in the local government as a national and cross-cutting areas.
The summit of Women for Climate Justice took place in the city of Bogotá D. C. in February 2022, and also had the transmission virtual streaming. Female participants from departments such as The Atlantic, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Cauca, La Guajira, Caldas, Guainía, Antioquia, Chocó, Huila, Cundinamarca, among others. The aim of the meeting was to influence and advocate for mainstreaming of gender issues in the public policy of climate change, in addition to the construction of a route to the consolidation of the Network of Women For Climate Justice.
An initiative of gathering and collective construction between the groups, feminist movements and organizations. A virtual space to promote the encounter of young women with different leadership social of Colombia and Venezuela from a feminist perspective.
In the framework of the 16 days of action against gender-based violence, the governor of Nariño, the ministry of interior, the general directorate of maritime and collective Self-Government joined efforts to organize the event Workshop on the prevention of violence against women #JOIN in on the action for equality, which were invited to sensitize ourselves on this issue and get involved in the global movement that plans to thousands of activities in cities and towns all over the world to overcome gender-based violence.
